Follow in the footsteps of ancient cultures to develop your skills in throwing on the wheel. Working to shape the clay whilst spinning at speed and to create forms that defy gravity.

Included in the course costs are 3kg of clay, glazing and firing. Additional clay is charged at £10.00 per kg. See Terms and Conditions.

7 week course £336 + £14 booking fee
Option to pay 50% deposit with full balance payable prior to 15 days of start of course).

What’s Covered on this Course?

Throwing

Starting with cylinders and progressing to bowls, lids and throwing off-the-hump.

Turning

Refine your thrown-forms using turning techniques to present work that is balanced and finished.

Glazing

Develop your finished piece with a range of beautiful glaze effects to add interest and texture to your work.

From Pencil To Clay with Jennie Hale

A weekend of focussed tuition, personal guidance and development of your skills under the leadership of ceramicist and watercolour artist Jennie Hale.

    TUTOR

    Julia’s work is an extension of her love for life and spiritual connection to the natural world; It is informed by a variety of people, places and experiences.

    Her process is intuitive and spontaneous and she finds the very nature of working with clay to be slow, soothing and grounding. She enjoys using both the wheel and hand building techniques.

    TUTOR
    Alson works in stoneware and throws mainly n the wheel creating domestic ware. Her work features glaze pairings that are varied and unique in outcome.

    Her watercolours feature on her Devon picnic ware and can be seen at exhibitions and in her Open Studios.
