Happy New Year from The Clay Yard

Pottery Update from the Water’s Edge…

With the July “pot-pickup social” marking the end of the first block of courses running since January, the studio is bustling through the Summer months welcoming families and friends to enjoy having a little bit of fun with clay.

Over the Summer, I’ve sourced some new tools, equipment and I have tweaked the systems a little. I am very much looking forward to sharing this lovely space with more of you lovely people.

The Autumn Courses are available for you to book now. If the course is not visible on the booking programme this may be because it is fully booked. You can add your name to the waiting list and be contacted should a place arise.

Throwing Fun in August

If you’ve found yourself with a free couple of days pop yourself onto the 2-day throwing workshops. Sat 5th -6th August, Thursday 10th - 11th August and Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th August. Find out More.

Emily Commands the Clay

Emily will be appearing in the Totnes Directory and is the face of my latest leaflet. In this pic she demonstrates her assertive approach to throwing. Well done to you Emily.

Pot Socials

New from September, the 1st Friday of every month will allow you to join fellow potters for an informal evening of chat, no agenda. Each session features a fund-raising raffle for Totnes Caring. Save your space.

A day of grafting at The Clay Yard

This is a classy jug created by 15 year old Joey Williamson. I love it!!! Joey worked for one day last month on work experience. Reclaiming clay, turning pots, wedging clay, preparing workstations, carving clay - gosh! He was brilliant and I am very grateful.

Lucie Rie: The Adventure of Pottery

Pop yourself along to a land-mark exhibition of Lucie Rie’s work at The Holborn Museum in Bath. Gather a bunch together and make your way before it finishes at 7th Jan 2024.

The Clay Yard Approved by Trading Standards

I am pleased to share that The Clay Yard is in the Made in Devon Trading Standards. I’m proud to be part of the scheme and look forward to working alongside other approved businesses.

I would so enjoy sharing my bright and airy studio space with as many of you as possible. I love being in there but I love it more when others are working alongside me. Come along and join the party…
